  2. Ahh! You watch American Horror Story? Everyone I follow is like obsessed with it, and I really want to get into it because it's so acclaimed! Would you recommend it?

I have an insane amount of love for Ryan Murphy’s shows. But especially the ones like these (see: Nip/Tuck and the unaired pilot of Pretty/Handsome). Also, there’s much love calling out to horror movies. Growing up, I didn’t watch many of them but I find them utterly fascinating. I like being uncomfortable and on the edge of my seat in anticipation.

In American Horror Story, I find the characters both undesirable and appealing at once. I adore that mix and I think it’s glorious when it’s on my screen. My personal opinion? These are fairly realistic characters put in rather unrealistic situations (aka the horror of the episode, not their personal stories).

You’ve probably seen people and their love for the character of Tate. I admit, that’s who I love too. He and Violet (the teenagers of the show) are incredibly emotionally compelling. More so than anyone else on the show to me.

The set and camera work is visually stunning and thought out. It really portrays the utter creepiness aspect well. The acting is pretty damn incredible. The one who consistently steals the show with her mad skills is Jessica Lange. The storylines leave you yearning for more as they tend to end on some sort of cliffhanger or shocking reveal.

Whether or not you want to get into it, I suppose, really depends on your taste. It’s a dark, disturbing show. I would watch the first episode since it really sets the mood and, if you like that, move on to the episodes after. There are only eight episodes out currently.

  3. There’s something smart about that.

THANKYOU! don’t worry, i COMPLETELY agree with everything you just said i absolutely

Oh, yay! I feel like I come off really strongly on my criticisms of Glee. (Who doesn’t really? Everyone seems to have an opinion for that fandom!) So, I do want to say that there is so much I adore about the show and they have portrayed some very real moments even if I don’t feel like many of the characters are real — their situations are often real.

I think part of the problem stems from getting so popular so quickly and the other is just Ryan Murphy’s style (see: Popular, Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story and the unaired pilot of Pretty/Handsome). His shows like Popular and Glee seem to have caricatures of people and realistic situations whereas shows like Nip/Tuck and American Horror Story seem to have very real characters and much less realistic situations.

Ah, complexities. Also why I prefer shows like NT and AHS to Glee and Popular. I will forever take my dark, disturbing realism in people before the other. People are always much more fascinating than any situation you can put a placeholder in.

Also, RE: Glee. I have a special love for Brittany and Santana’s love/situation, but I find myself often wanting to punch characters in the face rather than hug them.

    Poor babies.

TATE: I don’t feel sad. I don’t feel anything. It’s a filthy world we live in. It’s a filthy goddamn helpless world. And honestly, I feel like I’m helping to take them away from the shit and the piss and the vomit that run in the streets. I’m helping to take them somewhere clean and kind. And there’s something about all that blood, man. I drown in it. And the indians believed that blood holds all the bad spirits. And once a month in ceremonies they would cut themselves to let the spirits go free. There’s something smart about that. Very smart. I like that. You think I’m crazy?
